A company’s presence on social media is now essential. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok are key tools to boost your digital visibility.
However, publishing consistently for your community can quickly become time-consuming. Scheduling posts in advance makes the process much easier, saves valuable time, and helps you maintain a steady posting cadence. There are many content planning tools available. Here’s what you need to know!
Platforms to Plan Your Content in Advance
Meta Business Suite to Manage Your Posts Easily
We recommend the free Creator Studio tool within Meta Business Suite. It helps you plan your Facebook and Instagram posts and provides performance insights and statistics.
Before you start, make sure your Instagram account is set to Professional (Creator or Business). Go to Settings → Account → Switch account type. Then follow these steps to schedule your content:
- Click Create post.
- Use the first tab (top left) to select the social network; then upload the photos and/or videos. Mind the recommended dimensions: Facebook images: 1200×630 px; Instagram square: 1080×1080 px.
- Add your copy.
- Click Schedule and choose the exact date and time. The tool also suggests times when your audience is most active—worth a look.
Automate Your Communications with Buffer
From a single dashboard, Buffer lets you schedule content for Facebook, Instagram, Instagram Stories, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. It also offers performance analytics and lets you reply to comments.
With Buffer’s free plan, you can manage 3 social accounts. Need more? The Pro plan is €15/month and adds 5 more options.
Hootsuite — A Powerful Professional Tool
Hootsuite provides a long-term calendar view of scheduled content, making organization faster and ensuring no channel is left behind. It also offers detailed performance analytics.
Like Buffer, Hootsuite has a free plan (manage 3 social accounts for one admin). For fuller use, choose a paid plan.
What Are the Benefits of Automating Posts?
Better Time Management for Your Business
Preparing a social post takes time—choosing external links (homepage or landing pages), selecting hashtags, and tagging accounts to drive interaction and traffic.
If you post regularly across several channels, it quickly becomes time-intensive. We suggest setting aside a dedicated slot to schedule a week or two of content at once so you can focus on other tasks.
Staying Present for Your Audience
To build loyalty, publish consistently—and at the right times (when fans are online and active). A scheduling tool safeguards your cadence, even if something unexpected pops up, and keeps your editorial calendar on track.
Taking Your Content Strategy Further
Buffer and Hootsuite are handy for scheduling (e.g., on LinkedIn). For Facebook and Instagram, we recommend Meta Business Suite; content scheduled via third-party platforms won’t appear in your Creator Studio calendar.
Before scheduling, consider a digital audit and an effective communication strategy. This makes it easier to create a detailed communication plan, define your content types, and build an editorial calendar (we’ll cover this in a future article).
